Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power offers low-rpm option on Vanguard BIG BLOCK V-twin engines

With fuel costs remaining high, Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power is now offering equipment manufacturers a new low-rpm option on Vanguard BIG BLOCK V-twin engines to increase fuel efficiency without losing power — at virtually no additional cost. The low-rpm option leverages the generous torque curve produced by the Vanguard BIG BLOCK powerplant and reduces engine speed from the standard 3,600 rpm to 3,200 rpm, increasing fuel efficiency by 10 percent while reducing noise and vibration levels by about 40 and 20 percent, respectively. The system acts like a car’s overdrive gear — power remains in reserve for situations requiring full-throttle application.
