Shindaiwa in Tualatin lays off 37

Shindaiwa Inc., a Tualatin seller of outdoor power equipment, will lay off of 37 of its 92 employees because it will surrender sales and marketing in Europe, Asia and the Middle East to its Japanese parent company, a Shindaiwa executive said March 31.

Also, Shindaiwa Inc. will close entirely by Oct. 1 after it merges with ECHO Inc. of Lake Zurich, Ill. ECHO Inc. is also a subsidiary of Shindaiwa’s parent, Yamabiko Corp. of Tokyo.
