For the second straight year, Power Equipment Systems (PES), a Salem, Ore.-based wholesale distributor of lawn and garden equipment, engines, and service parts, was named one of the “100 best companies to work for in Oregon,” according to a survey conducted by Oregon Business magazine. PES ranked fifth among the best small companies in Oregon and eighth among all businesses in the state. The rankings were based on confidential surveys of more than 30,000 employees, working for 372 companies.
At PES, hard work is rewarded with various perks: massages, duck hunting, laser tag, bocce ball tournaments, BBQs and many more. Aside from all the fun activities, PES also supports the community as a team. Community projects have included cleaning up and mowing the grounds of the Humane Society, cooking breakfast for the homeless, and raising money for local nonprofit organizations. As one employee said, “We are a family. If someone is in need, everyone is there to help with work, kids, family, etc. I cannot express the love I have for PES.” PES Owners Pete and Kelly Yunker are committed to continue providing this kind of workplace where employees can feel like part of the family and be proud to come to work everyday.
Since 1995, Oregon Business magazine has recognized Oregon’s top-100 companies. This year’s list was composed of the best small, medium and large companies in Oregon. Companies are measured by the level of satisfaction their employees have in the following categories: work environment, benefits, compensation, performance management, decision making, and trust.
Established in 1979, PES services more than 1,200 customers in a seven-state territory, which includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska. Additional information about PES is available at www.pesnet.com.
