Haruo Uchiyama, chairman of Maruyama Manufacturing Company, Inc., delivers the keynote address.Maruyama hosted a “Dinner with the Chairman” event for its distributors during the Green Industry and Equipment Expo (GIE+EXPO) 2009 in Louisville, Ky. Building upon the company’s strong business relationships was the central theme of the event.

Principals from each of Maruyama’s 10 distributors in North America attended the function held at the historic Seelbach Hilton Hotel in downtown Louisville. The event featured speeches by Takaharu Uchiyama, president of Maruyama U.S., Inc., and Leif Ringstad, general manager of Maruyama U.S., Inc. The keynote speaker was Haruo Uchiyama, chairman of Maruyama Manufacturing Company, Inc., which is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

“The outdoor power equipment industry is in a perpetual state of change,” said Ringstad. “We believe it’s now more important than ever to solidify relationships with our business partners. Maruyama remains absolutely committed to the servicing dealer network, independent distributors, and our century-long heritage of Japanese manufacturing excellence. Mr. Uchiyama did an admirable job in his speech, articulating the importance of a strong business ‘family’ and adding further to the foundation of our success with Maruyama.” As a symbolic gesture for the time working and building the Maruyama brand, each attendee at the event received a Fossil brand wrist watch complete with the Maruyama logo.

In conjunction with the “Dinner with the Chairman” event, the concurrent GIE+EXPO proved to be a tremendous success for Maruyama. The theme for the trade show was “The ‘Power’ in Outdoor Power Equipment,” emphasizing the strong performance characteristics of Maruyama commercial-grade equipment. Maruyama exhibited its full line of commercial trimmers, brushcutters, hedge trimmers, blowers, and a selection of pumps and sprayers at both a large outdoor demonstration area and indoor booth.

“We’re very pleased with the trade show traffic this year,” said John Krueger, marketing manager, Maruyama U.S., Inc. “The annual Expo is the single largest trade show in the outdoor power equipment industry, so it’s very important to have a strong presence both indoors and at the outdoor demonstration area. During the three-day event, we made numerous and valuable commercial-user and new dealer contacts that will certainly help grow the business and market penetration for Maruyama.”
