Rotary’s Smith recognized by EETC

David Smith, director of purchasing for Rotary Corporation, received the 2010 Director’s Award from the Equipment and Engine Training Council (EETC) at its 14th annual conference that was held April 7-11 in Greensboro, N.C.

Smith, who joined Rotary in 1981, was recognized for his generous support of the EETC and his continuing efforts to increase the number of qualified service technicians in the outdoor power equipment industry.

“David is very deserving of this award and Rotary is very supportive of the EETC for its ongoing commitment to our industry,” said Ed Nelson, president and CEO of Rotary.

Smith added, “My involvement in the EETC would not be possible without Rotary’s support. The second generation of the Nelson family is continuing a tradition that was started by Ed’s father, the late Mr. Bill Nelson. The family has always been a generous supporter of education, and this continues with the EETC.

Founded in 1997, the EETC is a non-profit association comprised of more than 450 industry professionals, including manufacturers, distributors, dealers, associations and educators. One of the goals of the EETC is to ensure more professional power equipment technicians are certified to repair today’s sophisticated power equipment products.
