MAPI elects Briggs executive to lead its board of trustees

The Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation (MAPI), a leading business research and executive education organization and advocate for manufacturing interests, announced June 13 the election of a new chairman, vice chairman, and member to its board of trustees.

Todd J. Teske, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Briggs & Stratton Corporation (Wauwatosa, Wis.), was elected to a two-year term as chairman at the annual meeting. Neal J. Keating, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Kaman Corporation (Bloomfield, Conn.), was elected to a two-year term as vice chairman.

“We are pleased that Todd and Neal have accepted these important roles with MAPI,” said Stephen Gold, MAPI president and CEO. “Todd is a national leader on manufacturing issues and a widely respected industry spokesperson. He has keen insight into the challenges facing the sector, leads with passion, and possesses an exceptional vision for the future of U.S. manufacturing. Likewise, Neal is knowledgeable regarding the issues facing manufacturers, and is passionate about the enormous potential of a vibrant U.S. industrial base. We are fortunate to attract two outstanding individuals to head the Executive Committee of our Board of Trustees.”

Teske sees a vital role for MAPI. “I look forward to MAPI continuing its outstanding research to get the facts on the table as well as its peer exchange and executive education offerings, and to build on its 81 years of history and service to the manufacturing community,” he said.

Teske succeeds outgoing Chairman Carlos M. Cardoso, who is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Kennametal Inc. (Latrobe, Pa.). Cardoso will remain a member of the Executive Committee.

“We offer our highest gratitude for the time and contributions Carlos has provided MAPI as chairman these last two years,” Gold said. “We appreciate his tireless effort in keeping manufacturing front and center in the national discussion.”

Timothy T. Tevens, president and chief executive officer, Columbus McKinnon Corporation (Amherst, N.Y.), was elected as a trustee.

“Tim continues a tradition of bringing exceptional voices for industry and a unique corporate perspective to the MAPI board,” Gold added.

All appointments are effective July 1, 2014.
