Duramatic installs new finishing system at blade manufacturing facility

Duramatic Products, a division of Rotary Corporation, has installed a new state-of-the-art powder-coat finishing system at its lawnmower and edger blade manufacturing facility in Glennville, Ga.

The finishing system became fully operational earlier in 2017 upon completion of a 10,000-square-foot addition to the plant in Glennville. Dennis Lamb, Rotary Corporation vice president of manufacturing, said the new finishing line replaced a wet paint application process with an advanced, completely automated powder-coating system.

“Powder coating is extremely efficient and offers color selection flexibility for a variety of blade sizes and models,” said Lamb. “The advantages of powder coating are numerous. It provides a durable, high-quality finish that is safer, more environmentally friendly, and better performing than traditional wet painting.

“Our expansion has enabled Duramatic to eliminate capacity constraints while increasing production to meet growing market demand for our blades. We continually search for ways to improve the design and performance of our blades.”

Duramatic manufactures approximately 9 million lawnmower and edger blades annually. In 1994, the company became one of the first in the outdoor power equipment industry to become ISO certified for meeting high-quality standards. Duramatic blades are sold under the Rotary Copperhead brand in all 50 states and more than 63 countries throughout Europe, Asia, South America, Canada, Australia and Africa.
