James Grafft, owner of Certified Parts Corporation, buys Peerless Gear from Husqvarna Group
James Grafft of Janesville, Wis., announced that he has purchased the assets of Peerless Gear from Husqvarna Group. The company joins a family of companies that includes Certified Parts Corporation and others, but will operate as a standalone entity.
The new company will be called Peerless Gear LLC, and will take over operations at the Peerless plant, located in Salem, Ind. All of the related Peerless tooling, designs, and intellectual property will also transfer with the sale.
Jim Grafft, the new owner, points out that there are many synergies between Peerless and its sister companies – Certified Parts Corporation, Comet (clutches) and TecumsehPower/Lauson (engines). With the support and benefit of the other affiliates’ technical expertise, Peerless is well positioned to grow sales to the OEM market through increased product offerings. The extensive global network of dealers and distributors assures customer support anywhere needed.
Peerless builds transaxles, differentials, gearboxes, and hydraulic pumps and motors for some of the top brands in the outdoor power industry.
James G. Grafft founded Certified Parts (CPC) in 1982 to support equipment produced by various outdoor power and recreational vehicle companies. CPC supports the customers of 30-plus companies that have ceased production by providing OEM parts. In 2009, CPC expanded its footprint in the OEM market through the acquisition of the assets of Comet and TecumsehPower/Lauson. CPC continues production of Comet clutches and parts along with TecumsehPower/Lauson engines and components to support customer needs from its Edgerton, Wis., facility.
