Expansion at Intermountain Stihl supports growing dealer network

Stihl Inc. announced the expansion of Intermountain Stihl in Aurora, Colo. to better serve the 425 Stihl servicing dealers in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. The new location, which held its grand opening on Nov. 13, boasts numerous benefits and upgrades.

“We are extremely pleased to celebrate the opening of this new distribution location,” said Stihl Inc. President Bjoern Fischer. “The purchase of the 130,000-square-foot building signifies Stihl’s continued investment in the growth of our dealers and our confidence in the U.S. market.”

The new location adds more warehouse space with taller, longer racks and more efficient picking methods have been implemented to speed up dealer orders and deliveries. Additionally, Intermountain Stihl will now offer enhanced training and technical services capabilities to their dealers via separate classroom, workshop and sheltered outdoor training facilities.

“The new facility nearly doubles our warehouse square footage while still providing extra space for future growth,” said Jim Kneeland, director of branch operations at Intermountain Stihl. “The additional space and efficiently designed warehouse will enhance our delivery speed providing one- or two-day shipping to most of our dealers.”

Located just three miles from the former facility, Stihl Inc. selected the location in Aurora for its easy access to the I-70, I-25 and I-80 corridors which are the main routes for deliveries to Stihl servicing dealers. The design of the new regional headquarters takes advantage of energy saving fixtures, high-efficiency appliances and is a LEED certified building.

Stihl Inc. distributes products across the U.S. through a two-tiered system by selling products through a network of independent distributors and company-owned branches, like Intermountain Stihl. Distributors and branches then sell products to more than 9,000 authorized Stihl servicing dealers nationwide.
