NHS announces True Value Company President and CEO John Hartmann as keynote speaker

The National Hardware Show (NHS) announced True Value Company President and Chief Executive Officer, John Hartmann, as a keynote speaker at the upcoming show. Hartmann’s keynote presentation will take place on the morning of Tuesday, May 7, on the stage in the NRHA Village located in the Central Hall lobby immediately following the show’s opening ceremony.

“Our industry is rapidly changing, and the National Hardware Show is the perfect place for both retailers and manufacturers to come together to address this transformation,” said Hartmann. “I’m honored to discuss how the independent hardware retailer is well positioned for growth and profitability at the show.”

Entitled “Unlocking True Value,” Hartmann’s address will highlight how returning the majority of its members’ equity has offered retailers the opportunity to invest in their business as they know best and how a new company structure has enabled True Value to accelerate strategic investments without cutting into retailers’ profits.

Hartmann has more than 25 years of corporate experience at the senior executive level. Hartmann joined True Value in 2013, and led the company through the creation and implementation of a strategic plan focused on critical reinvestments in the business to drive growth and profitability for True Value Company and the independent retailers it serves. Most recently, he led the company through a change in business structure to unlock more than $230 million of shareholders’ equity, and establish True Value as the only hardlines wholesale distributor with a globally recognized brand and no stock requirement. Previously, Hartmann served as chief executive officer at New Zealand-based cooperative Mitre 10. He also spent nine years in business development and operational roles at The Home Depot and HD Supply.

“We are honored to welcome John Hartmann as one of our keynote speakers,” said Rich Russo, industry vice president for the National Hardware Show. “John’s extensive experience will inspire exciting conversation between retailers and manufacturers about the ever-changing hardware and home landscape. NHS will most definitely be a must-attend place for our industry to learn about trends and innovations in the hardware space and beyond.”
