September 2021: Overall Sales Dip Slightly, But NE Region Reports Robust Numbers

OPE dealers in the United States saw a slight 2-percent decrease in overall sales in September 2021 vs. September 2020, according to the latest numbers provided by Constellation Data Solutions. Service sales, however, continued to be strong around the country, and the Northeast region showed up strong in all sales categories.

Overall dealership sales in the U.S., region by region for September:

• Northeast: 12-percent increase in overall sales in September 2021 vs. September 2020;
• Midwest: 2-percent decrease in overall sales this period;
• South: 3-percent decrease in overall sales;
• West: 19-percent decrease in overall sales.

Canadian dealers reported a 9-percent increase in overall sales in September 2021 vs. September 2020.

As noted earlier, Service sales were once again strong in September, up 14 percent across the U.S. (and up 62 percent in Canada). The Northeast region led the way – up 18 percent this month vs. 2020.

Parts sales were down 2 percent in the U.S. overall in September vs. this same time last year, although the Northeast region reported a 2-percent increase. Canada also reported an increase in parts sales (13 percent).

Wholegoods sales were down 3 percent overall in the U.S. in September. The Northeast region, however, showed a 16-percent increase in September, while the West region reported a 27-percent decrease vs. this same time period in 2020.
