In January 2022, U.S. OPE dealers saw 15-percent growth in overall sales vs. January 2021, according to the latest numbers provided by Constellation Data Solutions. Every region showed positive numbers overall; wholegoods sales led the way in January, and parts sales were also positive.
Overall dealership sales in the U.S., region by region:
- Northeast: 33-percent increase in overall sales in January 2022 vs. January 2021 (with a 58-percent increase in wholegoods sales).
- Midwest: 15-percent increase in overall sales in January 2022 vs. the same period in 2021.
- West: 12-percent increase in overall sales in January.
- South: 11-percent increase in overall sales in January.
Canadian dealers reported a 9-percent increase in overall sales in January 2022 vs. January 2021.
Wholegoods sales rose 20 percent overall in the U.S. in January vs. 2021. As noted above, the Northeast reported a 58-percent increase in wholegoods sales, followed by the Midwest (19 percent), the West (13 percent) and the South (11 percent). Canada was up 18 percent in wholegoods sales in January.
Parts sales were up 10 percent in the U.S. overall in January vs. this same time last year (down 5 percent in Canada). The South region reported a 13-percent increase in parts sales vs 2021.
Service sales were flat overall in January vs. 2021 in the U.S. (down 13 percent in Canada). The South region reported a 6-percent drop in service sales.
