Explorer: OPE Across America – March 2022

We spotted the following OPE news from dealerships (and others) around the country in the past few weeks:

Coudersport, Pennsylvania – Mahaley’s Outdoor Power Equipment has added Bobcat equipment to its inventory, according to a story posted to NorthCentraPA.com. “We believe adding Bobcat will be a huge asset to our area and allow us to offer even more products and services to our diverse customer base,” says co-owner John Mahaley. Mahaley’s is also a Stihl MasterWrench Service Certified dealer.

Decatur, Texas –WiseHonda Outdoor Power (wisehonda.com) moved into its new location in February, a remodeled gym facility that nearly doubles the dealership’s showroom space. Wise also added 10,000 square feet for its service department. The dealership offers Branson tractors, Exmark, Gravely, Honda Power and Walker mowers, plus UTVs and ATVs.

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Ryan Abell of Abell & Son (abellandson.com) has been re-elected to serve as vice chairman of the Deep Southern Equipment Dealers Association (DSEDA). The DSEDA represents outdoor power equipment, ag, industrial, forestry, turf and irrigation dealers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and South Mississippi.

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania – Messick’s Equipment (messicks.com) has posted a video, “I Got Burned, 5 Mistakes I Made Buying Equipment at Auction,” to its website. Neil Messick says “…because of the record level of demand right now for machinery, we bought 50 or 60 machines in the last year off of auctions, and I’ve had a couple of surprises!”

Woodstock, Illinois — The American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA), Automated Outdoor Solutions and the Langton Group have collaborated to create five robotic AGZA Certified Green Zones in northern Illinois. An AGZA Certified Green Zone is a defined area of land where routine maintenance is performed with the use of quiet, low-impact equipment.

Lexington, Kentucky – For the third consecutive year, Central Equipment Company (centralequipment.com) has achieved Kubota Elite Dealer Status, Kubota’s highest level of dealer accreditation. “Kubota’s Elite Dealer Program is focused on building and managing best-in-class dealerships….Kubota Elite Dealers have achieved the highest level of Kubota recognition and customer satisfaction,” the dealership notes on social media.

Waterloo, New York – Empire Tractor (empiretractor.com) has entered into an agreement to purchase Walldroff Equipment, expanding into Canton and Watertown, New York, the dealership posted on its Facebook page. Empire sells New Holland, Kubota, Kioti, Dixie Chopper, Stihl and other lines.

Texarkana, Texas – Texarkana Outdoor Power Equipment (texarkanaope.com) has finalized its move to a new location; the dealership had been at its previous location since 2011. The company’s brands include Scag Mowers, Ferris, Bobcat, Walker Mowers, Snapper and more.

Gaylord, Michigan – Hutson Inc. (hutsoninc.com), with locations in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Tennessee, has acquired Michigan-based Lappan’s of Gaylord. “We’re excited to announce that Lappan’s of Gaylord is now a part of Hutson, Inc.!” reads Hutson’s Facebook post. “The name may be different, but the faces are still the same. Thank you to Jim and Barb Lappan and wish you well in retirement. We look forward to continuing the legacy!”
