Matt Rexrode: 2022 40 Under 40 Award-Winner

In the past year, says Matt Rexrode, “Our dealership has grown from one location in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, to three locations, spreading to Blacksburg and Danville, Virginia. I really like being a part of a growing company. As we grow, I’m quite passionate about what we do as a dealership and the industry. I like seeing people develop as I have and continue to do. I feel I have the opportunity as a young person with integrity and high-valued work ethic to help in many ways as we grow through the coming years.”

Just one of the ways he has helped Beverage Tractor be more successful, he says, is by being on the front end of technology. “The past few years have been tough on businesses with Covid, inventory shortages, etc. We have tried to be on the front end of this from the beginning, offering many different things to help us succeed. Some examples of this would be using texting platforms like Kenect or Target CRM, Google Workspace for our networking and internal uses, and learning how to use up-to-date media software and programs like Adobe to create content and build our brand. I’ve also grown our social-media presence, taking over all our social-media platforms, by creating new content … and making videos to build our brand.”

Matt, says a nominator, “proactively helps train other salespeople with their processes, including margin capture and electronic quoting procedures. He’s developed an onboarding process for new salespeople, and maintains continuing education on the latest software and programs for company benefit in all marketing applications. This has also increased customer visibility and help drive sales growth and profits for the aftermarket departments. Matt works well with others; he communicates well and always has time to help his peers. Matt understands that the better the salespeople perform, the better the company performs – and vice versa.”

What has been Matt’s greatest success? “Where I feel I have been most successful and thrived has been with tractors under 70 hp and lawn & garden. I’ve helped grow our commercial landscaping business over the past several years. We do an appreciation and informative event each year designated just for our commercial and municipality customers, which has been quite successful. I lead this and enjoy seeing many new landscapers take to the industry each year, while also helping maintain our current customers.”

“I believe something that sets me apart in this industry are my values,” he continues, “which is putting my faith first, family second, then my job. I’m thankful I get to work for a place that absolutely understands this, and I get to be a part of it as well. Working for owners and managers who share the same values, work ethic and moral character makes it easy to do this and succeed. We recognize that our job is not the only thing we have going on in life, and it helps working for people who understand this.”
