32-year-old dealership moves next door, doubles in size

After 32 years of helping northwest Washington customers improve their properties, Carl’s Mower & Saw of Ferndale, Wash., knew it was time to work on their own.

The business, founded by Carl and Beth Levien in 1990, moved Aug. 15 next door to a much larger building at 6195 Portal Way.

“We have simply outgrown our current space,” said Josh Levien, the general manager. He’s one of three sons, joining Carl and Clayton, who are working at their family’s business.

The 9,600-square-foot facility is more than two times larger than the previous Carl’s Mower & Saw building.

“Our customers have been an amazing support over the years and with this move we will be able to serve them better,” Josh Levien said. “With more room, we can display more equipment inside, we can stock more parts and access them quicker, and we can add a technician in the shop. There also is more parking and better traffic flow at the new location.”

However, some things won’t change.

“We are focused specifically on outdoor power equipment,” Levien said. “We aren’t a hardware store, implement dealer or box store. This enables us to provide an expertise and service level that homeowners and professionals deserve.”

Carl’s Mower & Saw carries some of the industry’s leading brands, including Exmark, Gravely, Honda, Husqvarna, and Stihl. A wide assortment of lawn mowers includes self-propelled mowers, riding mowers and the increasingly popular automowers. It offers plenty of other lawn-care equipment, too, plus chainsaws and generators.

But sales are only one part of the success equation. The 14-person staff includes factory certified service technicians and others specializing in parts and rentals.

“Everyone here wants to help customers, whether that’s by answering their questions or showing them how to use their equipment,” Levien said.

Carl’s Mower & Saw is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call (360) 384-0799 or visit www.CarlsMower.com.
