A Vanguard 48V 3.5kW commercial battery powers the 300e sit-on ZTR mower. Users can charge this powerpack in a 110v outlet, no need to install a charging station. The manufacturer says the onboard charger provides the segment’s fastest charge time of 3.5 hours and run time on a full charge is up to two hours or up to 3.5 acres.
Along with battery power, the 300e features four-point independent suspension. The company has been a leader in independent suspension on zero turn mowers and currently holds 16 patents on its suspension system. The Ferris suspension system is equipped with a pivoting front axle along with coil-over shocks and a swingarm rear suspension system, also equipped with coil-over shocks. This allows the wheels to remain in better contact with the ground enhancing stability and ensuring a smooth ride over rough and bumpy terrain.
The 300e can reach speeds up to seven miles-per-hour and has three blade speeds to adjust for varying grass types and conditions. Engineers designed blades specifically for the electric drivetrain to reduce power consumption, while maintaining cutting performance.
ICD Cutting System
Ferris Mowers has taken its popular iCD cutting system and upgraded it for better efficiency and a superior cut. The new iCD+ Cutting System, launched at Equip Exposition, will be available this fall on the Ferris ISX 800, ISX2200, ISX3300 and ISX6200 zero-turns as well as the Ferris Z2 and Z3X stand-on units.
The system includes a new baffle design and increased blade overlap which creates more vacuum, pulling the grass up for an improved cut. A wider exit chute reduces grass buildup that can cause mowers to bog down. The iCD+ system comes in both 72-in. and 60-in. deck sizes with plans to expand to smaller deck sizes next year.
The iCD+ system also introduces an anti-scalp wheel attached with a bracket, instead of being welded on, making it easy to replace if damaged. “The improvements to the iCD system will serve to enhance both the cut and the operator experience,” said Christin Wam, senior director of marketing, Briggs & Stratton. “Ferris operators prize our units for their comfort, efficiency and quality of cut and this new system is one more way we are delivering for them.”
